Breaking the sunlight, which is very much in abundance in UAE, into tiny rays of ‘rain drops’ is what Jean Nouvel has done in the main courtyard of the Louver museum in Abu Dhabi.
To achieve this he used one of the most common architectural element one could find in the islamic architecture, the dome and he is used an enormous one.
He constructed a double dome 180 meters in diameter, perforated randomly in an women manner, providing shade punctuated by bursts of sun. The dome gleams in the Abu Dhabi sunshine.
